PHIL & ANNETTE
Phil & Annette, owners of FirstLight Home Care of Chardon and now, Thistle House Senior Living, came to the reality almost 10 years ago, that their days of corporate life were coming to an end to make way for a much more rewarding career serving others. Phil is an engineer who spent the better part of his career in varying leadership capacities while Annette has a customer service and sales background. Through a lot of soul searching and much research, Annette and Phil decided that they wanted to work for themselves while trying to help as many people as possible in the process. This thinking resulted in the purchase of a Private Duty Home Care franchise called FirstLight Home Care of Chardon in 2011. Annette and Phil, over a 7 year period of time, and many sleepless nights, managed to take their business from start-up to over 150 clients and nearly 100 employees. Being an exceptional employer has become nearly as important as being an extraordinary home care provider. Annette & Phil believe that happy employees will naturally result in happy clients and this has proven to be their recipe for success.
While the home care business has been rewarding and challenging on so many levels, the opportunity presented itself in 2016 to purchase an old motel in the city of Chardon, a depressed and undesirable property to say the least. Annette and Phil's vision was to renovate and rebuild the structure and convert it to a state-of-the-art Assisted Living community that will look and feel more like a Bed & Breakfast rather than an institution. This dream was realized in the summer of 2018 when the vision was converted to reality and is now open for business and operating as Thistle House Senior Living.

This is our extended family of professionals along with several of our resident’s families. At Thistle House, family is important to us and we work hard to make sure that our team is represented by compassionate and skilled individuals that will always strive to put your family first.
Our team includes Skilled Aides 24 hours per day, Chef, Nurse Practitioner, RN, Administrator, Skilled Nursing, Therapy & Hospice partners, and FirstLight Home Care for those looking for a short respite stay with a transition back home.
